Okay folks. I went onto my Facebook page this morning like I always do, and saw a link on my News Feed titled "Police Taser boy with broken back 19 times." I shook my head, but clicked on the link and apparently a 16 year old boy fell from an overpass onto the road thirty feet below. Police arrived on the scene, but instead of calling for medical assistance, they shouted commands at the barely coherent boy, and when he didn't respond, the police Tasered him 19 times because the police feared for their safety before approaching the severely injured youth. The boy is in intensive care awaiting surgery on his broken back because the shock to his system from the Tasers increased his white cell count to the point where doctors could not operate.
This story would be worthy of consideration on its own merits, but to add insult to injury, a sidebar on the website listed links to recent related stories. Unfortunately, this is just the tip of the iceberg. We are living in a police state where authorities act with impunity, and citizens have no recourse. Men, women, children, pets, baby animals, senior citizens, injury victims, are all fair game. Following is a copy of that column:
