We went to see another movie this weekend. The latest installment in the popular "Die Hard" franchise features a rapidly aging Bruce Willis mugging for a rapidly aging audience. The film consists of the requisite, car chases, foot races, close-quarter combat, over the top gunplay, choreographed pyrotechnics, and even the ubiquitous helicopter attack. The usual characters abound: femme fatales, insane henchmen, limitless thugs, double dealers, and megalomaniac politicians. The action sequences are broken up by cliche, shallow interplay (between Willis and his estranged CIA son) masquerading as profound insight into the complex relationships between fathers and sons. Basically, "A Good Day to Die Hard" is simply an excuse for an hour and a half of gratuitous violence. I loved every minute of it.
Gratuitous violence
Undressing for success
