I'm not afraid for myself. I've lived a
long and varied life full of love and hate, pleasure and pain, beauty
and ugliness, compassion and injustice, wonder and banality,
adventure and routine. I've survived cancer, massive infection,
spinal cord injury, and fate has conspired to put me in a wheelchair.
I've had the unconditional love of a good woman and several cats.
I've celebrated family weddings, birthdays, holidays. No, I'm afraid for my children, and
even more so for my grandchildren.
I'm afraid for the children . . .
